Here we see the Brooklyn class light cruiser USS Nashville (CL-43) at the Mare Island Naval Yard, California. The picture is dated 1 August 1943, but the Nashville took part in the invasion of Kiska in the Aleutians in the same month, so that date probably refers to the caption rather than the date of the picture itself.

Nicely organised, with the wartime service records separated out from the main text, so that the design history of the light cruisers flows nicely.
