WAVES examine 20mm AA gun on USS Mission Bay (CVE-59)
Here we see a group of WAVES being shown 20mm anti-aircraft gun on the Casablanca class escort carrier USS Mission Bay (CVE-59) during a guided tour on 20 August 1944. The WAVES were officially members of the United States Naval Reserve (Women's Reserve), but were better known as Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service
