USS Melville (AD-2), 1934, Panama Canal Zone
USS Melville (AD-2) was a destroyer tender that served in both World Wars, serving at Queenstown in the First World War, and supporting the D-Day invasion during the Second World War. Here we see her at Balboa Harbor in the Panama Canal Zone on 24 April 1934. In front of her are two very similar looking Clemsen class destroyers, with USS Zane (DD-337) in the front and an anonymous sister-ship in the middle.
