Jonas H Ingram on the Bridge of USS Litchfield (DD-336)
Here we see Jonas H Ingram, then serving as commander of Destroyer Squadron Six, in the captains seat of the Clemson Class Destroyer USS Litchfield (DD-336) in 1935. During the Second World War Ingram rose to command the US fleet in the South Atlantic from September 1942 before becoming Commander-in-Chief of the US Atlantic Fleet in November 1944. In the first role he played an important role in the Battle of the Atlantic, and in the second he was responsible for the flow of reinforcements and supplies from the US to the European theatre.
