Explosion on USS Lexington (CV-2), 8 May 1942
Here we see the massive explosion that devestated the Lexington class carrier USS Lexington (CV-2) on 8 May 1942, after she had been abandoned because of damage suffered during the battle of the Coral Sea. This explosion was probably caused by her torpedo store detonating.
