USS Knapp (DD-653) under construction, 1943
Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS Knapp (DD-653) under construction at the Bath Iron Works of Bath, Maine on 10 July 1943, exactly one month before she was launched. At this point most of the superstructure has been completed, but the guns are yet to installed.
