This dramatic picture shows a Japanese twin engined aircraft plunging into the sea during an attack on the escort carriers of Task Group 52.11 off Saipan on 18 June 1944. The picture was taken from the Casablanca class escort carrier USS Kitkun Bay (CVE-71).
