Calvin Coolidge on bridge of USS Kentucky (BB-6)
Here we see Governor Calvin Coolidge of Massachusetts and Captain W. B. Wells on the bridge of the Kearsarge class battleship USS Kentucky (BB-6) during a visit by the Victory Loan Committee of Boston in 1918. This picture also gives us a good view of the lower part of the cage mast and the wing platforms of the bridge, both covered with what appears to be canvas. This is a far cry from the sophisticated enclosed bridges familiar from Second World War battleships.
