Here we see one of the torpedos on the Wickes class destroyer USS Israel (DD-98) taken out of its tube (just seen on the left), with the warhead removed. We thus get a view of the flat front of the main part of the torpedo. This picture was taken from the old battleship USS Indiana (BB-1) in September-October 1918.
