Here we see the stern depth charges and aft 4"/50 gun on the Wickes class destroyer USS Israel (DD-98). Note that the gun is unshielded, while No.1 gun, in the bow, had a large gun shield. This picture was taken from the old battleship USS Indiana (BB-1) in September-October 1918.
