Here we see Captain John L. McCrea inspecting the crew of the Iowa class battleship USS Iowa (BB-61) at some point during her shakedown cruise in 1943. McCrea commanded the Iowa from February 1943 to August 1944, before being promoted to Rear Admiral and given command of Cruiser Division 3.
