USS Franklin (CV-13) passes USS Marblehead, New York, 1945
Here we see Essex class carrier USS Franklin (CV-13) passing USS Marblehead in New York harbor on 28 April 1945 as the carrier headed for the New York Naval Yard for repairs to damage she suffered off Japan on 19 March 1945. The Marblehead had been in the Far East when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, and later served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, but by 1945 had been withdrawn from front line service and was used for training.
