Here we see the view forwards along the main deck from the aft gun platform of the Bainbridge class destroyer USS Dale (DD-4). Note the long row of frames, designed to hold up the awnings often seen in peace-time photographs of the ship. This picture was taken on 30 June 1902, while she was still fitting out.
