Here we see the sponsor's party for the launch of the Caldwell class destroyer USS Conner (DD-72) at Cramps, 21 August 1917, the date of her launch. The Conner was sponsored by Miss Elsa Diederich, the great-great grand daughter of Commodore David Conner, a US naval officer during the War of 1812 and the Mexican War.
