USS Chauncey (DD-296) in Dry Dock, 1918
Here we see the Clemson class destroyer USS Chauncey (DD-296) fitting out in Drydock 3, Hunters Point, San Francisco, on 14 October 1918. At this point the hull is complete and the basic shapes of the various deck houses are taking form. This is an unusual view of the base of the bridge structure, without the side screens or the upper levels to hide the basic shape.
