USS Charlotte (CA-12) , 1920
Here we see the armoured cruiser USS North Carolina (ACR-12) in June 1920 just after she had been renamed as USS Charlotte (CA-12) in order to free her original name to be used by the South Carolina class battleship USS North Carolina (BB-52). However the battleship was never completed, and the name wasn't reused until 1940 when the North Carolina class battleship USS North Carolina (BB-55) was launched.
