USS Brooklyn (CL-40) in the Hudson River, 1939
Here we see a stern view of the Brooklyn class light cruiser USS Brooklyn (CL-40), taken in the Hudson River, New York, in 1939. From this angle we can see the aircraft crane and catapults on the stern and the two rear triple 6in gun turrets. These gave the Brooklyn class cruisers a more modern appearance than the previous Omaha class ships, which also carried six guns at each end, but in one twin turret and four casemates.
