USS Brooklyn (ACR-3) as Commodor Schley's flagship
Here we see the armoured cruiser USS Brooklyn (ACR-3) when she was serving as the flagship of Commodore Winfield S. Schley, commander of the 'Flying Squadron' during the Spanish-American War. Schley ended up commanding the US fleet during the battle of Santiago (3 July 1898) which saw the Spanish squadron at Santiago destroyed as they attempted to escape.
