USS Birmingham (CL-2) on sea trials, 1908
Here we see the Chester class scout cruiser USS Birmingham (CL-2) on sea trials in March 1908. The caption says this is Run 10, heading north at a speed of 24.66 knots. All three members of the class got different types of engines to all comparative tests, and the Birmingham was given triple expansion engines.
