Grumman TBF Avengers on USS Barnes (CVE-20)
Here we see the Bogue class escort carrier USS Barnes (CVE-20) carrying a deck load of Grumman TBF Avengers on 8 January 1944. The Barnes was mainly used as an aircraft ferry, moving aircraft to the fighting areas.
