USS Augusta (CA-31) on D-Day

USS Augusta (CA-31) on D-Day
According to the accompanying wartime caption, this picture shows the Northampton class heavy cruiser USS Chester (CA-27) on D-Day, but the Chester was in the Pacific at that point, so this has to be her sister ship USS Augusta (CA-31), the only member of the class to take part in the invasion. Note the small landing craft heading in towards the beaches.
