Deck load of P-51 Mustangs on USS Altamaha (CVE-19)
Here we see the Bogue class escort carrier USS Altamaha (CVE-19) carrying a deck load of North American P-51 Mustangs off San Francisco on 16 July 1943. The Altamaha had just collected the aircraft, and was to ferry them to Australia.
