SMS Dresden showing the white flag, Chile, 14 March 1915

Here we see the German cruiser SMS Dresden flying the white flag off the Chilean island of Mas a Fuera (14 March 1915), after she was trapped by a British squadron of three ships, four months after the battle of the Falklands. Once her crew were safe, the Dresden was scuttled to prevent her falling into British hands.
