R.A.F. F.E.2 in 1912
Here we see the prototype of the Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2 in 1912. This was an early design by Geoffrey de Havilland. This aircraft was later rebuilt to produce the second prototype F.E.2, which had the more familiar rounded nose. This photo shows the Maxim machine gun that was installed for trials in 1911-12.
