6in gun crew on HMS Malaya at action stations
Here we see the gun crew of one of the casemate mounted 6in guns on the Queen Elizabeth class battleship HMS Malaya, at action stations. Note the two shell containers being carried by the men at the right, which give some idea of how large even these 'smaller' shells were. There appears to be a protective screen of some sort that has been rolled up to allow this picture to be taken, suggesting that this isn't a combat situation.
