AGM-65D Maverick under wing of A-10, 2003 (1 of 2)

Here we see an AGM-65D Maverick under the wing of a Fairchild A-10 Thunderbolt II of the 118th TFS in Iraq in 2003. This AGM-65D Maverick has been inscribed with a message - 'To Saddam From Nashua Police 'Live Free or Die!''. We can also see some of the instructions on the weapon, including alignment marks just behind the message.

Nashua, New Hampshire, is just over 80 miles to the north-east of the squadron's US base at Bradley, Connecticut.

Many thanks to Robert Bourlier for sending us this photograph.
