War of the First Coalition - Main Battles of the Rhine Front
This map shows the main battles on the Rhine Front during the War of the First Coalition. Generally the French were able to defend their own borders, but failed less well when heading further east into Germany, although the southern part of the main offensive in 1796 was going well and only had to be abandoned after the failure of the northern attack.
