Regions of Ancient Greece
This map shows the most important regions of Ancient Greece in the Classical Period, before the rise of Macedon. This area contained most of the most important cities, from Sparta in the south to Thebes in central Greece, and was the location of most of the famous battles of this period. During the Greco-Persian Wars we thus find clashes at Thermopylae on the coast of Malis, around Euboea and at Marathon and Salamis. around Attica.
