Cyprus in 306 BC
Simple map showing the progress of Demetrius I Poliorcetes’s invasion of Cyprus in 306 BC. Demetrius landed in the north east of the island, and advanced towards Salamis. He won a battle outside the city, then engaged in a siege. Ptolemy I responded by landing at the western end of the island, then advancing along the south coast. Their fleets met in the naval battle of Salamis of Cyprus, in which Demetrius was victorious.
