Fall of Jerusalem

Having been pushed out of their strongest defences on the previous day the Turks decided to evacuate Jerusalam. The last Turkish troops leave the city early on the morning of 9 December. Just after noon the Mayor of Jerusalem hands the keys to the city to General Shea, commander of 60th Division. There is some fighting on the Mount of Olives but the city is soon secured.
