IX Corps under General Stopford land at Suvla Bay on the night of 6-7 August. At first they are almost unopposed but Stopford misses the chance to win a major victory.
War at Sea
A Sopwith Schneider makes the first take-off from the 120ft take-off platform on the seaplane carrier HMS Campania. Despite this success the deck is considered to be too short and the Campania undergoes a major refit in November 1915-April 1916.
