War at Sea
The Omaha class light cruiser USS Milwaukee (DD-5) is laid down. She spent most of the Second World War serving in the South Atlantic, before being transferred to the Soviet Union early in 1944. She spent the rest of the war escorting convoys between the US and the Soviet Union, before being returned to American control and scrapped in 1949.
