Third battle of Ypres: Battle of Polygon Wood

Start of the second of Plumer's 'bite and hold' battles, designed to use the German counterattacking tactics against them. The 4th and 5th Australian Divisions attacked on 2,000 yard wide front. The site of Polygon Wood was is captured on the first day of the battle.
