The Lioré-et-Olivier LeO 450 was the designation given to a version of the LeO 45 medium bomber that was to powered by two 1,080hp Hispano-Suiza 14 A 06/07 engines. One pre-production LeO 450 was ordered in May 1937, alongside the similar LeO 452, which was to use more powerful Hispano-Suiza engines. A series of production orders for Hispano-Suiza powered aircraft followed, but by the summer of 1938 it was clear that the over-heating problems suffered by this engine would not easily be solved. The prototype LeO 45 had been designed to be able to use Gnome-Rhone radial engines. After successful tests with the new engine all production orders were modified, and the LeO 450 was abandoned in favour of the Gnome-Rhone powered LeO 451.
