Here we see a Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter just after it has taken off from a platform on 'Q' turret of the Indefatigable class battlecruiser HMAS Australia. The first succesful launch from HMAS Australia was made on 8 April 1918, when she was serving with the Grand Fleet. In the background is HMS New Zealand.
