The Curtiss XP-18 was the designation given to a biplane fighter that was to have been powered by the Wright V-1560-1 twelve-cylinder air-cooled engine. The designation was issued in 1930 (alongside one for the XP-19 monoplane), and the new aircraft was to have been an entirely new biplane design, not yet another variant on the P-1/ P-6 Hawk. The V-1560 engine never appeared, and the XP-18 was cancelled before any serious design work had begun.
