The Sturmgeschütz Ausf.C was the third version of the StuG III assault gun, and saw only minor modifications from the Ausf B. The most important of these was the replacement of the direct vision port associated with the gun sight and its replacement with a periscopic SflZF 1 gun sight. This was operated by raising it through a small hole in the gunner’s roof hatch. The Ausf.C also saw a minor redesign to the front of the superstructure. The Ausf.C and Ausf.D were very similar, to the extent that they are impossible to tell apart visually.
