HMS Ready was a repeat M class destroyer that served with the Grand Fleet from 1916-18, helping sink the German Auxiliary Cruiser Kronprinz Wilhelm in 1917, then served with the local defence flotilla at Portsmouth in the early 1920s.
The Ready was ordered under the Fifth War Programme of May 1915. She was laid down at Thornycroft, launched on 26 August 1916 and completed in October 1916.
1916
From November 1916 to December 1918 the Ready served with the 15th Destroyer Flotilla, Grand Fleet
1917
On 2 November 1917 the Ready helped sink the German Auxiliary Cruiser Kronprinz Wilhelm during a raid into the Kattegat. She was one of seven ships that shared a bounty for the sinking.
1918
On 2 January 1918 the Ready collided with the tug Monarch at Grangemouth.
The 15th Flotilla took part in the surrender of the German High Seas Fleet on 21 November 1918.
Post War
She was decommissioned after the war, but re-commissioned on 17 September 1919.
In December 1920 the Ready, Rocket, Rob Roy and Rosalind were serving with the local defence flotilla at Portsmouth.
In 1923 the Navy decided to scrap its older destroyers, including the Ready. She was sold to be broken up in July 1926.
