Zeppelin L49 in France
Here we see Zeppelin L49, which was forced down almost intact in France early on 20 October 1917 by French fighter aircraft while returning from a raid on Britain late on 19 October. An armed French civilian stopped the crew destroying the zeppelin, which was extensively studied by the Allies and had an influence on both American and British airship design.
