Here we see troops from the 1st Battalion of the Wiltshire Regiment (25th Division) in the aftermath of an attack on Thiepval on 25-26 August 1916, part of the battle of the Somme. Many of the men are wearing captured German trophies, although Thiepval didn't fall to the Allies until September. The Wiltshires suffered heavy losses during the fighting at Thiepval, so the overwhelming emotion here is probably relief.
