This page from Lt D.W. Gay's 'War Effort' shows a picture taken during Raid 40.
Raid 39 was an attack on the motor transport and mobile reserves of the 29th Panzer Division at Pradazzo to support the 8th Army. The attack was an 'apple' with most bombs hitting the target area.
Raid 40 was an attack on a motor transport pool and toop reserves carried out on 18 April 1945. The attack was judged to have been a 'good apple', despite heavy flak. Here we see the bombs explsoding in the middle of the motor park.
Many thanks to Martin Hampton, the son in law of Lt. Gay, for sending us this material. These pages come from Gay's own private notebook which began with similar infomation to his flight log, but became more detailed, and also included a number of interesting items that had been pasted in.
