X-Ray using equipment from Voisin Aerochir
Here we see an X-Ray being carried out in front of the Voisin Aerochir, using equipment and medical staff carried on the aircraft. This was an Voisin
X bomber converted to carry a surgeon and radiographer, a flat-packed surgical table, sterilising equipment and enough sterilised and sealed surgical equipment for eight operations immediately after landing and unsterilised equipment for another thirty. The aircraft was ordered late in the First World War but wasn't tested until 1919. The two standing men in the centre of the picture are Dr. Foveau de Courmelles (left) and Medical Major Stepensky (right). The aircraft also carried gowns and gloves for use in real medical situations. This demonstrates how the surgery could be set up in the field.
