US Marines land on Guadalcanal
Here we see US Marines landing on Guadalcanal on 7 August 1942, marking the start of the first US land offensive of the Second World War. The troops from the 1st Marine Division are landing from LCP(L)s, in an unopposed landing that caught the Japanese by surprise.
