Sir Arthur Stanley (1869-1947)
Here we see Sir Arthur Stanley, Chairman of the Joint War Committee of the Board of the British Red Cross and the Order of St. John during the First World War and again during the Second World War. During his career he was also MP for Ormskirk, Chairman of the RACm Treasurer of St. Thomas' Hospital and co-founder of what became the Royal College of Nursing. He was the son of Frederick Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby, who when he was Governor General of Canada donated the trophy that became the Stanley Cup, the main trophy in Canadian Ice Hockey.
