A side view of the Spitfire F.Mk IX, powered by the Merlin 61 engine. This example, serial number BS458, appears to be armed with two 20mm cannon, with the mounting for the third and four cannon sealed over. The picture was taken in 1943 when the aircraft was serving with No.306 (Polish) Squadron
