Here we see Soviet troops advancing through some of the ruins of Stalingrad, during the later stages of the battle. The man nearest to the camera is armed with a PPSh-41 submachine gun, issued in large numbers to the Red Army and giving their infantry platoons a great deal of short range firepower.
