Soviet Military Mission to London, July 1941
Here we see a Soviet military mission that visited London in July 1941, soon after the German invasion of the Soviet Union. In uniform is General Filipp Golikov, pre-war head of the GRU, the main Soviet intelligence agency. He had failed to predict the German invasion, but his military career survived that disaster and after his visits to London and Washington he was given field commands.
