Axis ship on fire, Skerki Bank
Here we see an Axis ship on fire during the battle of Skerki Bank (1-2 December 1942), a night battle off Tunisia in which Force Q of the Royal Navy sank all four ships in an Axis convoy as well as one of the escort destroyers, while suffering no damage. The Allied force was made up of the cruisers HMS Aurora, Sirius and Argonaut and the destroyers HMS Quiberon and Quentin. Although all five survived the battle, the Quentin was sunk by a Luftwaffe attack early on 3 December.
