Captain W. Sherlock
Here we see Captain W. Sherlock, commander of A Company, 2/6 Infantry Battalion, part of the garrison of Wau when the Japanese attacked early in 1943. His patrol made the first contact with the Japanese and managed to hold them off for much of 28 January. This allowed reinforcements to be flown into Wau, saving the airfield. Sadly Captain Sherlock was killed in the battle.
