Brigadier S.G. Savige
Here we see Brigadier S.G. Savige, an Australian general who served at Gallipoli and in the Caucasus during the First World War, then in North Africa, Greece and Syria early in the Second World War. After the Japanese entry into the war he returned to the Pacific, and commanded the Australian 3rd Division during the campaign against Salamaua and Lae and II Corps after the Australians took over on Bougainville.
